Aim & Scope
Biomaterials science is among the fastest moving interdisciplinary scientific fields in recent years. Over the last half a century, a wide range of biomaterials including metals, ceramics, and polymers and related medical devices have been produced for the replacement of human organs and tissue. Damaged tissues and organs are not only required to be repaired but also to be regenerated. Regenerative Biomaterials is a fully open access, international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal publishing the latest advances in biomaterials and regenerative medicine. The journal provides a forum for the publication of original research papers, reviews, clinical case reports, commentaries, and perspectives on the topics relevant to the development of advanced regenerative biomaterials concerning novel regenerative technologies and therapeutic approaches for the regeneration and repair of damaged tissues and organs. The interactions of biomaterials with cells and tissue, especially with stem cells, will be of particular focus. Regenerative Biomaterials is an international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal publishing the latest advances in biomaterials and regenerative medicine. The journal provides a forum for the publication of original research papers, reviews, clinical case reports, commentaries, and perspectives on the topics relevant to the development of advanced regenerative biomaterials concerning novel regenerative technologies and therapeutic approaches for the regeneration and repair of damaged tissues and organs. Reports on cells or stem cells in regenerative medicine but without materials will not be included. The journal will be a platform on biomaterials for communications among various disciplines involved with biomaterials, nanotechnologies, stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, and clinical medicine. The scope of Regenerative Biomaterials includes, but is not limited to: Design, synthesis, and evaluation of biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine; Design, evaluation and clinical use of biomaterials that contribute to tissue regeneration and regenerative processes; Nanotechnologies and novel processing for preparation of biomimetic scaffolds; Interaction of biomaterials with cells, especially stem cells; Regenerative mechanisms of tissue by using biomaterials and/or stem cells; Drug/gene delivery materials and methods; Clinical applications of regenerative biomaterials; Scientific base of evaluation and quality control of biomedical materials; Surface modification methods of biomaterials and their effect on regenerative medicine; Safety assessment of biomedical materials; Stem cells fate controlled by materials signals; Improvement of implanted medical devices; Biomechanics of biomaterials and devices; Regenerative engineering.
