Aim & Scope

The journal Музикологија / Musicology was established in 2001 by the associates of the Institute of Musicology SASA, with the initial aim to study Serbian cultural heritage and musical practices and to present them to the local and international expert public. Gradually the journal expanded its scope to relay international trends and discoveries in musicology to both Serbian and foreign readership. At the present time, the journal promotes contemporary Serbian musicological and ethnomusicological research in international circles; at the same time, by including contributions of eminent foreign scholars, it has become an important and reliable source on contemporary musicological and ethnomusicological scientific tendencies and knowledge around the world. Focused on an interdisciplinary approach, the journal has been open since its inception to observing the currents of music history in a wider cultural context. Hence, in addition to musicologists and ethnomusicologists, many historians.
